Constructed: Built in 1997 Wimbledon debenture seats are situated towards the front of the elevated stand, circling around the court. All debenture seats, shown in green, are the same price for the day purchased.
court is situated on the west side of Centre Court and also plays host to some of the higher profile players. During the Wimbledon Championships 2013 Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams and Andy Murray all competed here amongst others. The AELTC’s first plans for No. 1 Court was as a hard surface. However, as it could not be completed in time for the 1922 tournament, which were the first Championships to be held at the new Church Road site, construction was delayed for two years and the original No.1 Court was later unveiled in 1924 with a grass surface. The current show court was constructed in 1997 to replace the old one due to lack of space. It now holds a capacity for 11,000 spectators making it more intimate than Centre Court with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. This complex offers a range of facilities such as the food village, Wimbledon shop, Wingfield restaurant and a range of hospitality suites. Wimbledon has also confirmed that a new retractable roof will be built for No. 1 Court; they intend to build it in time for The Championships 2019. The roof on Centre Court has been regarded as a huge success and a further cover on No.1 Court will allow play to continue should there be bad weather.
